PacerPro is the market leading workflow automation and experience capture tool for US federal court filings. We worked side-by-side with our partners at PacerPro to strategize and execute a rebuild of the main application for the world’s largest court filings company.
“They have augmented our engineering team on a variety of projects – helping us rebuild a
good portion of our app in React and assisting with our marketing site’s redesign…I’d highly recommend
them for any team’s software development needs.”

Laying a strong foundation
With a holistic understanding of what we were looking to accomplish we began strategizing
on the path to optimize the code base. Given that This
was their main application, any downtime in service would not only hurt revenue, but reputation. We
developed a contanerized solution provided improvements
in uptime. Then we worked with the existing engineering team to identify connecting application layers and
apis. The insights from these preliminary sessions
helped us validate the optimal feature set.
Research and testing sprints were continued post-launch to generate insights and ensure functionality post
shipping.
We design for usability and then test for simplicity.
We replaced outdated PHP with React javascript.
Our developers worked alongside the engineering team.
We built a custom CMS to suit clients particular needs.
We built custom APIs to streamline workflow and sync.
Code base is easier to maintain and recruit for.
Managing data across multiple products
We were tasked with rebuilding PacerPro’s core applications which included a legal case management platform that provides comprehensive
search capabilities, an enterprise management solution for litigation firms and mobile versions of both apps. PacerPro required cutting-edge technology that
would offer a seamless developer experience and accommodate their pace of growth and scale. At the same time the system had to maintain robust functionality
and security.
Our team designed an intuitive dashboard interface that allowed users to easily manage their cases, monitor progress, and control access to sensitive information.
By employing a role-based access control system, we ensured that only authorized users could access specific resources, upholding the platform’s security and
integrity. We implemented advanced algorithms and indexing techniques to optimize search results, ensuring users could quickly locate the most relevant cases.
Additionally, we developed a notification system that kept users informed of new developments and updates on their tracked cases, further enhancing the
platform’s utility.
To deliver these powerful features, we rebuilt the applications using a modern technology stack, leveraging state-of-the-art frameworks and databases.
The benefits of the system-wide upgrade
Our choice of tools, such as component based javascript frameworks and intuitive state management systems, allowed us to create a highly efficient and scalable
application that could adapt to PacerPro’s growing user base and evolving requirements. Utilizing these technologies provided several key benefits, such as
enhanced performance, improved maintainability, and a modular architecture that simplified the development process.
The result of our work was a completely revamped core application that offered a superior user experience, efficient case management capabilities, and a secure environment
for handling sensitive legal data. By rebuilding the application with a modern stack, we not only met PacerPro’s immediate needs but also ensured the platform’s longevity
and ability to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of the legal industry.
From technical debt to modern stack
The legacy code was written in PHP. We rebuilt the main application entirely in ReactJS. On the back-end we used the clients existing AWS set-up and optimized it with cloud based scripts that improved rendering.
